Random Bookish Glee

The little bookish things that have made me happy in the last little while: 1) Checking in the audiobook of Ilona Andrew‘s Magic Burns on my shift at the library this week.

Sometimes the processing librarians scan and shrink the artwork to fit our CD cases – maybe this is what happened to this cover. Distorted Kate looks like an Austen spinster or something. Sad, but funny depiction of her.  I had forgotten all about her appearance when I opened it up, and saw this sticker on the inside:

I think I remember reading that Ilona Andrews has donated their audiobooks to many libraries. I’m not a big audiobooker but still, cool.

2) I weeded and sorted my personal bookshelves a few days ago, changing my organization scheme from color to alphabetical. I’m not sure how I managed so long without alphabetization. I breathed a sigh of relief when I was finished. Color was pretty for awhile though. I was also able to fit all of my ARCs on shelves. Happy indeed! A blurry sample:

What about you? Random moments of bookish glee anyone?

Lol, Kate looks amazing! A scared spinster indeed. That’s pretty awesome that they’ve donated so many of the audiobooks. I was looking at the audio for Gunmetal Magic the other day and noticed that the Andrea on it looks completely different (like pony tail in her hair instead of shoulder length down), so I was curious if the art actually changed or what.

Let me know how you like the audio! Still debating between using an Audible credit to buy Gunmetal Magic or waiting for it to come in at the library.

Huh, I didn’t know that. Maybe the art does vary slightly from print copy to audiobook. I’m curious to compare the actual copies when I’m at the library next or of course just look it up online. I didn’t check it out, but I can. I’m curious to hear what Kate’s narrator sounds like, if I will like her voice and interpretation. Maybe Andrea’s narrator in Gunmetal Magic is better?

The same woman narrates both Kate and Andrea, which I think would bother me if I got used to her as one or the other and then tried to listen to the the other. Still excited to hear what you think!

Oh gosh, I can’t wait for the dining room renovation to be finished, so the books that live there can go back, with new bonus bookself! and maybe I’ll be able to shelf my ARCs too….Yours look so pretty!

A new bonus bookshelf? Yay for that. Sounds like the renovation will be worth it the sacrifice in many more ways that one.

That’s so cool that the audiobook from your library came from the author themselves! And YAY BOOKSHELF PICTURE *takes a peek* I enjoy seeing what other people have on their shelves…maybe a little too much xD I redid my shelf too; I’ve never done alphabetical order but I did do them by color….it looked pretty but annoyed me because I like having books by the same author together.

Sandy, I completely agree about having all the books by the same author together. That’s trumps alphabetization in my book. :) I neet to take more and better quality pictures of my bookshelves. DH was sleeping when I took that one, so I had to be fast. :)

From far away, it looks like Kate has a cat face:) That’s awesome that they donated their audiobooks to the library. My system has most of the audios I want but often the series are broken up across the libraries and not available at one.

Your bookshelves look awesome, though! I don’t think I saw a picture of what they looked like by color but they certainly look great now.
