Favorites of 2012 (so far)

I realize I’m a little late with this, but since I enjoyed making a best of mid-year list for 2011 I thought I’d post a list again for this year. I know, my list is far less cool compared to Nomes‘ creative Faves of 2011 last year but oh, how any list makes me happy. In random order:

Favorites of 2012 (published this year):

Shadowfell by Juliet Marillier (review to come)
I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella
I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga
Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore
Team Human by Justine Larabelastier and Sarah Rees Brennan
Scarlet by AC Gaughen
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Favorites of 2012 (published in different years):

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
Catch of the Day by Kristan Higgins
Silent Blade by Ilona Andrews (review to come)
Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park
Nine Coaches Waiting by Mary Stewart

And since I love me some stats that’s 7 YA to 5 adult, and 3 contemporaries, 2 urban fantasies, 2 fantasies, 2 chick lit/contemporary romances, 1 retelling, 1 historical, and 1 mystery. I’ll be interested to see which ones make the end-of year list and which titles get cut. Summer/fall is always a time I feel bombarded with new releases for which I’ve been pinning all year long, so stiff competition is ahead. Did any of my titles make your list?

The Fault in Our Stars is in my list as well! I really want to read Shadowfell, I’ve Got Your Number and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society soon. Glad to see Nine Coaches Waiting in this list, I remember the readalong that we did for that book. :) I love that Silent Blade is on your list, really enjoyed reading that as well. Are you planning to read Silver Shark soon?

Oooh, lots of good books here. I can’t wait for SHADOWFELL. And TEAM HUMAN, come to that.

I liked the Kinsella book as well and loved BITTERBLUE. GUERNSEY etc was a bit of a gem, and the Mary Stewart is one of my favourites as well!

Yes, Shadowfell is wonderful. I’m excited to review it when it gets closer to the release date. I hope you love both that and TH.

Fantastic list! I haven’t heard of Silent Blade, is it a standalone/novella?

I just finished Graceling yesterday and LOVED it, so of course I’m so excited to read Fire and Bitterblue soon. I’ll also hopefully be reading Shadowfell within the next month (certainly before it comes out). I know I won’t like it as much as Daughter of the Forest (which has been my absolute favorite read this year), but I still have very high hopes.

Yep, Silent Blade is the first in the Kinsmen novella series. I loved the world and the couple.

I’m so happy that you liked Graceling! I did too. I can’t wait to hear what you think of the rest of the series. I hope you like Shadowfell. I was pleasantly surprised because I didn’t love Marillier’s YA books (Wildwood series). Have you read any of the other Sevenwaters books? I liked Son of the Shadows just as much as DotF. Those are my two favorites of hers.
