I just about jumped up and down last week when I heard the news that the Aussie YA contemp Good Oil (my review) by Laura Buzo is being published in the US under the title Love and Other Perishable Items. Straddling YA and the emerging genre New Adult, which focuses on college-age adults, Good Oil is told from the alternating perspectives of young but mature Amelia, a fifteen-year-old starting at Woolworth’s and her twenty-one year old trainer Chris, who’s struggling to find his identity post-uni. I was lucky enough to read it as part of the Go Aussie Book Tour last year and I adored these two and their hopeful but realistic relationship immediately. I’m so excited that more people will have the chance to read their story. The December release date may feel miles away, but the egalley is currently available on NetGalley. So what are you waiting for? Go and request now!

I own the Aussie edition but I’m so getting the US one too!
This is such an amazing book! I was so glad to see it cross the pond.
I discovered the cover for the US version a few weeks ago and the story really sounds interesting. The German version ( http://www.amazon.de/Wunder-wie-diese-Laura-Buzo/dp/3401067338/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=HG1E0U3VOVKU&coliid=IZZ54PFLM2SGP) will be released this month and maybe I will get the book.
Yay, I love Assie YA books! But I don’t love e-reading. I may have to work harder to overcome that!
Want!
Thanks for the heads up on this one. I keep checking Amazon to see if they are getting this one in — I didn’t realize the title had changed! Heading to NetGalley…NOW!
Ack! I requested this weeks ago and haven’t heard back yet, it’s killing me. I honestly wasn’t that taken with the premise, but since those who’ve had the chance to read it already have had such good things to say, I want to check it out!
Also I LOVE the US cover. One of my favorites this year.
So glad Good Oil now has a US publisher! Yay for more readers having access to this title. Sigh, really looking forward to reading Laura Buzo’s latest, Holier Than Thou. Also, have you heard that Raw Blue will be published in the UK?
