It’s been ages since I’ve filled out a meme so when I saw this fun and quick one over at Angieville I knew I would be posting my own answers sooner rather than later. (See also Nomes, Janicu, Chachic, and Tina‘s versions.)
1. Book I am Currently Reading: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. This is something else you guys. The writing is so unique and different. I’m loving it so far.
2. Last Book I Finished: Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Hmm, I liked, I didn’t like … still processing. Review to come closer to release date.
3. What I Want to Read Next: Where She Went by Gayle Forman. After the perfect yet up-in-the-air ending of If I Stay I can’t wait to get to this sequel which is told from Adam’s point-of-view.
4. Last Book I Bought: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I could not pass up a signed copy. (For my son: There’s A Monster at the End of this Book, DH’s favorite book as a child.)

5. Last Book I Was Given: Virtuosity by Jessica Martinez. I devoured this book about violin prodigies Carmen and Jeremy in one sitting. (As to the gifter, you know who you are – thank you!)

Grover was one of my top two Sesame Street characters. The other was Oscar the Grouch. Loved any story where we got to see the inside of Oscar’s trashcan.
Lol, awesome. I watched a lot of Sesame Street, but now I can’t remember which character was my favorite. The Count was pretty fun. “7 flowers ha, ha, ha, ha, ha…*
(Looking forward to all your reviews. Especially of SHATTER ME)
Haha thanks.
Echoes what Janice said – really curious about what you’ll say about Shatter Me. Not sure if I’ve added that one to my wishlist. I need to pre-order John Green’s book! Or maybe just wait for it to become available in local bookstores? They have all of his books here and the entire first printing will be signed.
My favorite kiddie book was The Enormous Turnip and I got a copy of that for my godson last year.
I am curious how it will hold up. I usually don’t preorder books this in advance of the release date but I couldn’t turn down the chance for a signed copy. Ooh, must read The Enormous Turnip now. Sounds fun.
LOVE the monster book! One of my favorites too! I’m also anxious to read Where She Went… and The Fault in Our Stars. Did you see my John Green love post the other day?
I love it too. I totally missed out as a kid. I did see your John Green post. I loved the video. I still am in disbelief that he’s been signed books for months but I’m so excited to be getting a copy.
Niiice. I loved this little meme and I’m happy to see it make the rounds. Happy you’re enjoying SHATTER ME so far.
It’s a good one. Thanks for sharing. I hope Shatter Me continues to hold up so well.
There is so much exciting stuff going on in this post! I’m a bit jealous that you’re reading Shatter Me–I haven’t gotten a copy yet. I need to preorder John Green’s new release as well, I still can’t believe he is signing ALL the preordered copies, geez. You haven’t read Where She Went?! I’m excited for you on that one. And last but not least, I went to see Jessica Martinez with a bunch of other authors the other day and she played the violin! She seems like a super nice person:)
Ohmygosh I am so jealous that you got to see Jessica Martinez and hear her play! I’m really looking forward to what she writes next. I guess I missed the Shatter Me hype so I had no clue what was in store, but the prose has blown me away so far. I’m excited to get to Where She Went? How does it hold up compared to If I Stay?
I like Where She Went almost as much as If I Stay. I listened to the first one and read the second one so I’m not sure how much that impacted it but the two of them just frustrated me for a large portion of the book. (annoying decisions) BUT I still totally loved it.
Jessica Martinez is adorable. I’m going to write a blog post about it but she talked about what made her want to write Virtuosity and it was a moment where she realized that a talented a devoted musician might want to just toss their instrument off a balcony and give it all up. She wanted to write a book about why that might be true. Also, she told a really funny anecdotal story about how her violin teacher once asked her if she wanted to try out his instrument so she said sure. She played it and said she really enjoyed the sound difference and hoped she could get an instrument like it in the future. Then he said, “You can if you have 4.5 MILLION DOLLARS.” Then she was like “WTF?! Why did you let me hold this?! I’m such a klutz!”
It was a really cute story.
Audiobooks can really affect the “reading” experience I think. But that says something if you still loved it.
Ah, she sounds sweet. I can’t wait for the blog post!
I would never have guessed she’d played a million-dollar violin herself. Lolololol.
Thanks for sharing.
okay … I am currently reading CINDER O.o so, now I am feeling cautious, haha.
shatter me is only $5 AU at TBD (on preorder) http://www.bookdepository.com/Shatter-Me-International-Edition-Tahereh-Mafi/9780062114204 I am thinking of getting it (?) but am not sure it is a “me book”
x Nomes
Haha, sorry. I think I will still give it 3 stars on Goodreads. Feel free to chat spoilery bits with me if you want to – I’m curious if you’ll feel the same way about some things. I may review it soon. I keep reconsidering my decision to wait until the release date.
$5 AU is a steal! Oh Nomes, I think you would love the prose for sure. It’s so lyrical and unique.
I’m not much of a Grover fan, but I love the other blue muppet, Cookie Monster. As if that isn’t obvious with my Cookie Monster photos.
On another note, I also just pre-ordered The Fault in Our Stars!
Can’t wait for that.
Oh – yay! – you preordered.
Cookie Monster is pretty cute.
