It’s been awhile since I posted any book art and part of that is because I’ve started using Tumblr and quickly reblogging art I see posted there. If you’re interested at all in art that is bookish or paper related you I recommend the Tumblr blog F*** Yeah, Book Arts!. I see new work of an artist I already know or discover new artists nearly everyday. My favorite new-to-me artist is Kylie Stillman. She has done paper carvings from multiple stacked books in the last few years and more recently, from stacked paper. Kylie is Australian and many of her works are exhibited in Sydney so maybe some bloggers I know have seen her work in person? If so I am very jealous but let me know how it fared in the flesh. I love the minimal, silhouette style of her carvings. A few of my favs (via Kylie’s website):

I think it would be great to see these in person. The pictures probably don’t do justice to the depth of the carvings. I would love to be able to walk back and forth and see them from different angles.
Very true. You can sort of get an idea of the depth by looking at how dark the shadows are, but it would be very clear in person.
These are lovely! I agree with Janice, I bet these would look even better in person. Aren’t you glad you signed up for a Tumblr blog?
Yep, I sure am. Tumblr is a lot of fun for lots of reasons.
