If I had actually started using my new Tumblr account I would just reblog this, but instead here’s a quick post. Illustrator and freelance designer M.S. Corley created these fantastic Penguin Classics-inspired covers:

LOL you should start using your Tumblr account! I really hope they publish editions of Harry Potter with these covers, would love to have copies.
Lol, I’m so swamped right now but I will get to it sooner or later.
Me too! Just doing my part to help them get exposure so we can buy them one day.
I loved the first cover! The other ones were nice as well but the first one was great!
I really like the first one, two. If I could only but one I would buy that one. In general the first three are nice.
I think this is one of those cases where things in a collection look great but individually, I’m not so in love. I like the first cover and maybe the second. Definitely must get them all together for the full effect.
Sorry, I reread that and it came off harsher than I meant. I meant I like it as a collection and would buy them together, not individually.
No worries, it didn’t sound too harsh to me. I completely understand what you’re saying. That’s probably why I had to post the complete set rather than referring to the link. I think the cover for the first book stands the best on it’s own. Just the fact that he used a rainbow color sequence probably means his design concept was based on the collective rather than on each individual cover.
I’m not so crazy about 4 & 6 – but like you’ve already discussed, as a collection they are very striking. Definitely different and original from all the other covers!
