Nomes of Inkcrush‘s Fave Reads of 2011 “share the awesome” book awards to celebrate the awesome books, characters, scenes, and book covers we’ve read so far. Anyone can participate, and there are no rules for the awards except that they need to be books you’ve read this year.
1. Best Male POV: R from Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion. An almost charming, good guy zombie. Loved him and his POV.
2. Best Female POV: Amelia from Good Oil by Laura Buzo. Being in Amelia’s shoes was startlingly like being in my own 15 year old shoes with a miles-out-of-my-league unattainable crush.
3. Best Couple: Grace and Vaughn from Unsticky by Sarra Manning. So flawed, so complementary, and so perfect for one another.
4. I So Want to Be Best Friends With: Lady Julia Gray from the Lady Julia series by Deanna Raybourn. She’s fashionable, she’s a detective in training, and she lives in Victorian London. That says it all.
5. Who I Fell In Love With (new literary crush): Alan from The Demon’s Lexicon series, for his unfailing determination, his fierce love for his brother Nick, and his geeky tendencies. <3 him so much.
6. Worst (Best) Villain: Clarence Border from I’ll Be There by Holly Goldberg Sloan, because he’s unpredictable and has real problems. Runner-Up: the Boneys from Warm Bodies, because they’re horrifyingly creepy.
7. Best Character Twist: Regina from Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers, because I wanted to hate her but I couldn’t.
8. Best Kick-Arse Female: Kate from Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews, because she has both serious attitude and skill with a blade.
9. Best Kick-Arse Male: Nick from The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan. All I’ll say that he has mad skills.
10. Broke Your Heart the Most: Carly from Raw Blue by Kirsty Eagar, who was barely hanging on at one point. It was heartwrenching.
11. Best and Worst Character Names: Best – R (Warm Bodies) Doesn’t everyone want to be known by a one letter name? Worst – Timou (The City in the Lake by Rachel Neumeier) I know there’s far worse out there but I hated this name.
Top 5 Favorite Covers (books I want to embrace and/or I want to always be by my side they make me so happy):
