One Year Later + A Giveaway

Can you believe it? Yep, it’s my blogiversary. Exactly one year ago today Book Harbinger was born with my ever first post. At the time I thought this day would never come, but I can’t believe how fast time has flown! Words cannot express how much happiness blogging has given me over this past year. It’s been an outlet I needed more than I knew. Here are the top ten blogging “firsts” of my first year:

1. My first author reply to a book review

2. My first BBAW

3. My first review copies

4. My first In My Mailbox post

5. My first guest post

6. My first Book Art post

7. My first Book Blogger Holiday Swap

8. My first Utah Book Blogger Social

9. My first sponsored giveaway

10. My first review excerpt used by an author

Wow, it’s been an eventful first year, complete with heaps of squealing, plenty of fangirl moments, and much jumping for joy. As a thank you (and in celebration of course) I’m giving away a book of your choice from Book Depository(!)

To enter, all you need to do is leave me a comment describing your most memorable anniversary or birthday and a way of contacting you. As always, new members get one extra entry and current members get two entries. This giveaway is open to anywhere the Book Depository ships and will close on May 27. Good luck!

oh ~ and my entry comment…

*pause and think* I spent my 12th bday in India. it was hot and noisy and wonderfully chaotic. I got a few books as presents and played cards with my family at night. I guess it stands out as it was pretty special even though it was simple :) it’s prob my most unique location for a bday :D

Congrats on your blogoversary! I guess it’s a great feeling going back on your first posts.

My boyfriend and I just celebrated our 5th anniversary last May 9. It was the most memorable so far. We didn’t have this fabulous celebration but just spending time with him and talking about the “firsts” things we did together is enough celebration of what we have achieved together. He gave me a present that I didn’t really expect he would. That’s a really happy day for me.

Again congrats on your blog and may you have more blogoversaries to come! :)

Happy blog birthday, Holly! It’s so nice when your blog reaches a milestone, right? :) Almost like a baby growing up. Haha.

Okay, favorite birthday would have to be the latest, my 25th birthday, last March. I was at work during my actual birthday, but my colleagues made the day special by surprising me with stuff and a cake. My friends also sent my favorite flowers. Then I had a dinner two days later with friends from different circles — lots of food and talk and drinks in one place. :) My 25th birthday was also probably the most expensive one I’ve ever had that I’d spent on my own, since I treated myself and my friends and my family so many times, but I didn’t mind since I only turn 25 once. :)

Many more blog years to come for the Book Harbinger! I’m really glad I stumbled onto your blog. :) Cheers!

My most awesome birthday was actually a graduation present from High School. My cousin paid for my trip and a tour of Italy. It was amazing! We toured all over Italy, ate Gelato and pizza and had a great time. Congrats on your blog!

Congratulations on your first blogoversary, Holly :) Here’s to many more!

I’m not sure if it’s just me but some of your links didn’t work, just wanted to let you know.

One of my best birthdays, so far, was my 25th. I celebrated together with some girlfriends of mine who also turned 25 and we had a costume party with a bunch of our friends. It was so much fun.

I’m not sure if I’m a new or old follower, I’ve been a subscriber but not a GFC until today. My email: escapeinabook[AT]hotmail.com

    Congratulations!:)
Well, my most memorable birthday was my 18th birthday! My friends wrote me these short letters and I sort of read it in front of them and we were just there laughing about what they said. It was an amazing day, despite it being so simple:)

One of my most memorable birthdays was when my mom threw a surprise party for my 18th… and I really had no clue and was… yep… very surprised!

One year! I think I visit this blog so often that it feels like it’s been around longer! Ah, Suey says so too. :)

I guess the most memorable date is always the last one for me, and my birthday was last week. May 12th. We were in Helsinki and got to go on a sled ride, pulled by huskies. And then I pet them all!! That was pretty awesome. I have a cat but I love dogs too.

  10. Chachic says:

Aww We Love YA was your first guest post. Happy Blogiversary! :) I think I’ve said this several times before but I’m really happy that you decided to start a blog because I wouldn’t have met you otherwise and that would have been such a big loss.

Hmm one of my most memorable birthdays is probably my 18th because I had a big party to celebrate. We called it a debut here in the Philippines but I don’t know if it can still be classified as that. It was a lot of fun though because I think that was the last time I had a big party where all of my friends were there.

  11. Holly says:

Wow, thank you everyone! Today’s been such a great day. I don’t now if anyone outside the blogsophere understands. Even my hubby sort of laughed when I told him it was my blogiversary. At first he didn’t even know what I was talking about! Lol. I do feel like blogging is in my blood now and I hope to be doing it for a long time. :D

  12. Tin says:

Happy Blogiversary! :) My birthday last year was my most memorable. I treated my friends to lunch at an unfamiliar restaurant, a vegetarian one that is. It was a risk because we love our meat but the dishes were surprisingly delicious and we had happy, full stomachs. We went camera crazy after, took a bunch of goofy pics, talked till our mouths went dry. I opened my gifts and got The Hunger Games (which I adored! One of my best reads!) and a bunch of bookstore gift certificates! Good Food, Great company, Awesome birthday loot….what more could I ask for? :)

Happy Blogoversary! I can’t believe it’s only been a year! It feels like we have been doing this for forever :)

I should say that my most memorable birthday was a couple of years ago when my mum and I flew to Sydney to see Eric Clapton live. I’m totally into old school rock and he is a god on a guitar haha. But I think my most memorable birthdays are the ones I had when I was 7 and 8. There is this fantastic fairy shop that is so beautiful and totally magical and they hold parties there. We got fairy bread and fairy dust and got to play games and it was so much fun. PLUS we got to dress up :) much less impressive than flying across Australia to see a gig but certainly memorable.

Yay Holly!! I love your top ten list of firsts. Very fun idea – and congrats on your blogoversary. I’m so happy you took the plunge and started a blog too ;)

My favorite anniversary? Probably my most recent anniversary (7th! Whew!) – Trav and I went on a romantic weekend ALONE for the first time ever and it was wonderful. We ate and slept and just had a wonderful time without kids!

  16. Sarah says:

My best birthday when I was little was my 5th I think. It usually doesn’t snow around my birthday, but it did that one day, a lot. My mother and I spent the whole day outside building a huge snowman. And I loved that:)

I am a new twitter follower, GFC isn’t working at the moment…
