In My Mailbox, Aussie edition

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by Kristi of The Story Siren and was inspired by Alea of Pop Culture Junkie. This meme is about books that you received or bought during the week.

Two goodies this week, both Aussie YA:

I purchased the Kobo ebook Raw Blue and I received Good Oil through the awesome Go Aussie Book Tour hosted by Missie at The Unread Reader. Stressed with RL stuff and feeling a bit slumpy, both came just when I needed them. I’ve read both of them already and enjoyed each immensely! They are certainly the real deal as far as YA contemporary is concerned. Reviews coming shortly (I hope). I’m also happy to report that this brings my total to 3 Aussie YA books read for the Aussie YA 2011 Challenge. Just three more to go before the end of the year, and I have two more books coming to me on the tour- yay! Looks like I may complete my first ever challenge. :D

Were any of you as fortunate as I this week?

both of these are favourites of mine. raw blue blew me away. and on forst reading i gave good oil 4 stars but after a re-read i bumped it up to 5. it really resonated with me. chris more so than amelia (although she was gorgeous too)

I know! I feel lucky this week to have read two exceptional books. Carly is such a strong character and I loved Kirsty Eagar’s prose. I really connected with both Amelia and Chris in GOOD OIL. Looking forward to writing the reviews.

You must know that part of the reason I read them was because of your enthusiastic recommendations of them both, so thank you. :) I can not wait for the other two Aussie books I signed up for on the tour to reach me!

I haven’t read Raw Blue but I really enjoyed Good Oil. Yay for Aussie books. So glad you enjoyed them. Good luck with the rest of the challenge. What other titles are you waiting on? :)

I’m curious about Raw Blue now, since everyone’s raving about it. The cover for Good Oil seems very contemporary, too. Ah, but Raw Blue is kind of expensive online. I think I may just have to wait a bit before splurging on this.

Oh, and I’m really starting to like Aussie fiction, too. Not that I know much, since I’ve only read Marchetta, but everyone seems to be raving about books from that side of the world that I’m curious. :)

Yep, it is a little pricey, but I couldn’t wait any longer. :) Maybe you can borrow Chachic’s copy? I know- every Aussie title I’ve read so far has been great.

I got a couple of used books last week but too lazy to make an IMM post about them. LOL I’m so glad you enjoyed reading these two books although it makes me sad that real life is stressing you out. I hope things get better soon. I really liked Raw Blue and I should read Good Oil soon – I’ve read 4 books for the Aussie YA challenge so I only need two more. :)

Don’t worry, things came to a head this last weekend and now things have calmed down a bit. The books were such a relief. I hope you read Good Oil soon – I blew through it in a few days. Really liked it.
