In My Mailbox: A Well-Printed Monster and One Shiny Tall Story

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by Kristi of The Story Siren and was inspired by Alea of Pop Culture Junkie. This meme is about books that you received or bought during the week.

This week I only received one book in the mailbox, but it was a good one:

It doesn’t come out until September in the US, so being the fan girl I am I pre-ordered it from Book Depository. It was my first order and I was surprised at how quickly it arrived after it was dispatched (only a week). I’m definitely going to be ordering a lot more from BD in the future.

And because this book is full of illustrations – which I was unaware of – I’ll share a few pics of the gorgeous inside. I was wondering why the book was so heavy when I first pulled it out of the package. I can’t wait to start it.

Opening page

Naturally the book itself sans jacket is beautiful in itself:

And the author blurbs are awesome: Philip Pullman on the front and Meg Rosoff on the back.

On another note, don’t you love DH’s book stand? Sometimes I think I use it more than him. It’s also quite handy for typing out your favorite quotes and passages. :D

And secondly I wanted to share what I checked out from the local library I work at:

We just barely purchased two copies of Tall Story by Candy Gourlay and I think I’m one of the first to check it out because this copy is bright, shiny, and new (not to mention clean – if you handle library books all day long you know there’s a big difference between newer v. older purchases and how many times you wash your hands per shift). I’m very excited to start this one too. It looks like I could read it in one sitting.

Anyone else get something gorgeous, new, or shiny in the mail this week?

A Monster Calls looks gorgeous! I really should bump up Patrick Ness in my TBR pile. I think I’m addicted to ordering from Book Depository. Whenever a book isn’t locally available, I order it from there. It’s sad that it takes a month or so for the books to arrive though because before it only took two weeks. I’m waiting for three books right now.

I hope you enjoy reading Tall Story! :)

I know! You really need to read Knife of Never Letting Go – I bet you’d like it. I’m sorry it takes so long. I thought it might take longer for it to get here so I was very surprised that it showed up this week.

Yes, A Monster Calls looks gorgeous. My copy’s on the way, but Book Depository orders take a month to arrive here, so it won’t be here until first week of June, I think. Sigh. I’m so happy the book is less than $10, too and I think that’s really cheap for a hardcover and illustrated book.

Which reminds me, I NEED to read the rest of the Chaos Walking series soon.

Tall Story is lovely. I can’t wait to hear what you think about it. :)

I know, right? I was pleasantly surprised. Like I said before I’m sorry it takes so long for your BD orders to arrive. It is such a steal! You’re right.

Really I can’t believe you haven’t read TAATA yet! You should get going. :)

New Patrick Ness eh? Interested to hear what you think.

That new Patrick Ness book looks incredible! Wow. I can’t wait for it to check it out for myself.
