Awesome, isn’t it? I am cursing my luck at the moment for not being able to see it yet. Don’t enter me for the contest but I too can’t wait to see it.
Are you sure you don’t want to be entered? Please let us all know what you think when you finally get to see it.
Yay! I’m hosting the same giveaway starting tomorrow for Focus Features and I was so disappointed I wouldn’t be able to enter my own giveaway– and now I can enter yours!
I haven’t seen the movie yet, am going to wait until it comes out on DVD, but I really think this is going to be the best adaptation yet. I’ve seen the trailer, and the intensity of the acting is breathtaking, and it looks like Mia W. fits the part like a glove. She is so much better for the part than all the previous actresses who have played Jane.
Sweet Kate! I will go enter on your site. I agree, Mia W does seem a wise casting choice. I hope to see it in the theater when I comes to my area in April.
Hm…I don’t know what I’d look for specifically in this version. I think many of them lack the intensity of feeling as well a the difficulty of Jane’s choices. I’m interested to see what this one does for it, though it’s not available near me yet

I think the 2006 Masterpiece version captured intensity and difficulty pretty well, but I think that’s hard to do, so I’m hoping this one gets it right. You’re still in Utah, Melissa, right? Still waiting…
I’m really excited about this, but I’m nervous for Mr. Rochester. I’m worried that they won’t get HIM right.
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I’m your newest follower. Followed you here from Book Blogs.
I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m hoping they get all the subtly of Mr. Rochester right. I feel like that will be easily hit or miss.
I’ve never read Jane Eyre, but always wanted to so these contests are great for me! I don’t really know what to expect…awesomeness I guess?
I haven’t seen the movie I hope they don’t ruin the book. Thanks
As this is my favorite book, I have high expectations. I really hope they capture all the intensity of Mr. Rochester and of his relationship with Jane. I did love the 2006 version, so I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised!
My favorite scene I hope they get right is when Rochester tells Jane it is like an invisible string is between them.
Thanks for the contest!

I haven’t seen the movie yet, and it’s killin’ me! Can’t wait!
My favorite moment in the book is when Jane sneaks away from all of the ‘beautiful people,’ stops to tie her shoe, and is accosted by Rochester who, knowing EXACTLY what’s going on, asks her why she seems depressed… like she might start to cry. I hope they get that moment right!

I haven’t seen it yet, and I’m excited to do so but I’m also nervous; Jane Eyre is a book that is very easy to get very wrong and end up with a timid, boring Jane or a too-nice Rochester or the whole thing becomes a horror movie or a bodice-ripper. The 2006 version was very good but even that one had its moments of “Wha . . .?”
The thing I hope they get right (and that they did get right in the 2006 version) is Jane and Rochester’s relationship; they’re good friends before they’re anything else and Jane loves him because for once in her life someone is treating her as an equal, not as merely a governess or an orphan or a woman. If you don’t have that, you don’t get as much of her wonderful character growth, which is really the point of the book, I think.

You know, I don’t believe that I’ve ever read Jany Eyre! Shameful, right? And since I like to read books before movies, I probably would hold off on seeing the movie until I could read the book. So winning would help me towards that goal!
Thanks for the opportunity!

I have not had the chance to see the movie yet, but am getting more and more excited about it. I’ve read the book many times and have seen at least 4 versions of Jane Eyre.
I am looking forward to seeing how they interpret the scene at Ferndean when Rochester and Jane are reunited as that is one of my favorite scenes. Rochester is so broken when Jane finds him and she helps bring him back to life in a sense: “His countenance reminded one of a lamp quenched, waiting to be relit–and alas! it was not himself that could now kindle the lustre of animated expression: he was dependent on another for that office!”
I love it.

I haven’t seen the movie yet. I might have to wait for it to be on DVD. Way too much going on to be able to sneak away without the kids. I hope they characters have some chemistry. I hate when the characters in the movie version of a book are so unbelievable.
Im glad that they didn’t try to pretty up Mia too much.
Jane is supposed to be plain.
I haven’t seen the movie, but i’m looking forward to the romance
Thank you!!
I haven’t seen the movie yet (next weekend!) but I’m really looking forward to it. I’m interested in seeing what they do with the supernatural elements – from the trailer, it looks like they’re doing more with that aspect of the novel than other adaptations have done.
I have to admit I have never read the book. I have seen most of the Ciaran Hinds movie version and just couldn’t get into it. My problem is that I think Mr. Rochester treats Jane poorly and she just takes it. I know she had a hard growing up , etc. and my sister always says that Jane loves Mr. Rochester because he treats her like an equal but I don’t think he treats her like an equal. Obviously, because I haven’t read the book, I might be totally off base and this might be a big part of the story and therefore necessary, but it has discouraged me from reading the book up to this point. My hope is that this movie version will help me make sense of why Jane loves Mr. Rochester and therefore make me want to read the book.

I hope that they include a longish scene of Jane’s decision not to go with St. John.
I hope they capture Mr. Rochester & Jane’s relationships and what it entires intensity!!!
I haven’t seen this version of Jane Eyre but most certainly will be doing so as I have seen every other one. I don’t know what it is that appeals to me most, the purity of romance here and/or the innocese of the time period. What it would be like to be able to see things through their eyes on the marvels of life compared to that of today.
Ahh in life, to love is to find bliss and not to love is to lose oneself. I would love a chance at your contest. Thanks so much.
