While on Facebook today I read one of Chachic‘s status updates (pssst Chachic, I love them – keep it up!) that mentioned Kristi‘s post about the newish tool on Goodreads under your bookshelves called ‘most read authors.’ I think this is an interesting stat to look at and says a lot about a reader and what their taste has been in the past and what it is currently. Here’s a look at my top author reads:
Roald Dahl (18 books read) What?! This surprised me until I remembered that I’d added every book I’d read by him in my Dahl phase. Geez I really loved him back in my preteen days.
Juliet Marillier (12 books read) Yep. Definitely no surprise here. She’s one of my favorite authors so this totally adds up.
Shannon Hale and J.K. Rowling (tie for 7 books read) Boy, I used to love Shannon Hale a few years ago. Not as much now but I’m not adverse to reading more by her. J.K. Rowling is just a given.
Jane Austen, Ilona Andrews, and Stephenie Meyer (tie for 6 books read) I wouldn’t say that Stephenie Meyer is necessarily one of my favorite authors but I don’t mind seeing her there and the others are definitely beloved.
Deanna Raybourn, Patricia Briggs, and L.M. Montgomery (tie for 5 books read) Ahhh, so happy to see all of these authors make the list. I think I’ve read more than 5 Montgomery books. I must not have added all of the Anne books I’ve read.
And I will stop there, but that was fun (at least for me). What about you – if you’re on Goodreads have you noticed this tool before? Were there any surprises or was your list fairly predictable?
