It was exciting this week to receive two packages – one I’ve been anticipating for months and another for the past few weeks. Of course I’d been anxiously checking the mailbox each day up to the birth of my daughter and they didn’t come until a few days after her birth when I wasn’t running to the mailbox anymore. :p Very exciting nonetheless that they arrived the two consecutive days after I got home. Honestly Linda Gillard’s A Lifetime Burning has the oddest cover I’ve ever seen but after loving Emotional Geology and enjoying Star Gazing I couldn’t resist reading her other novel.
The second was *drumroll* ….
A package from my good blogging friend Chachic! Not only did she enclose the two newest Mina V. Esguerra books but she added some fun extras – a bookmark and a coin purse. One day I’m going to have a cool blog business card like hers. 
Also it’s hard to tell from the photo, but the books are about 4 x 6 inches – pocket-sized. Perfect size for a handbag. Thanks SO much, Chachic! I’m not sure when I’ll have a chance but I’m really looking forward to spending some more time reading Fillipino chick lit – I have a feeling I’m going to need a lot of light, pick-me-up reads in the coming months of sleep deprivation.

Yay, I’m so glad the package finally arrived!
I was worried that it got lost in the mail because it was taking so long to arrive. I had fun putting the package together so it’s great that you like the contents. Can’t wait to see what you think of Mina’s other books. I’m always interested in what people from other countries think of books set in the Philippines. They’re definitely light reads so you can squeeze them in whenever the baby lets you have some time off.
Also, I had no idea that Linda Gillard has another book. I’ll look that one up once I finish her two others.

The cover of A LIFETIME BURNING was a last minute re-design which I wish had never happened. It sort of makes sense after you’ve read the book – which is not a lot of use to a potential purchader!
Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! She is just beautiful. Hope you get some sleep. (If only you could stockpile sleep in the freezer, like pies & casseroles.)
