Cool Gifts and Colorful Shelves

When I went to work my first shift at the library after Christmas I was lucky enough to be greeted with the lovely phrase “there are multiple gifts in your locker.” Yep, each of the library staff members who don’t have their own office or cubicle (though I have in the past) have lockers. And naturally I don’t use mine but I forget that other staff use it as a mailbox of sorts so I need to be reminded to check it. The most recent gift dropped off (given by my supervisor and the person who reminded me to check my locker in the first place) was a beautiful hand-knit, lavender sweater for Baby Girl, which I’m too lazy to take a picture of but was very happily received. (There can never be too many baby girl clothes IMHO.) :) The second gift I did take a photo of because I had to show them to someone who’d really appreciate them:

Personal book labels. Cool, huh? I’ve seen these around before but can’t remember where. Does anyone know a company and/or website who prints these? What a fantastic idea. I may want to order some more because four is just not enough. ;)

And continuing on this random note, we recently moved into a new house which gave me a chance to reorganize my books. Since it may be my only opportunity instead of alphabetically I went roughly by color, and here’s a sample of how they turned out:

Personally, *I love*. Best of all I was able to keep books by the same author or in the same series together without wrecking the color scheme, which surprised me. I’m not sure how long this arrangement will last but glancing fondly at my shelves as I pass is becoming a habit to which I’m quickly growing attached.

Those book labels are lovely! I’ve seen some of those in our local bookstores but they’re not personalized, you have to use markers to write your name on them.

LOL you went ahead and arranged your shelves by color. It looks good! I’ll try to do that soon just so I can take a picture.

That’s not as cool if you have to write your own name. Better have good handwriting. ;) Do it! I’d love to see the picture.

Wow, that’s so nice that the other library workers leave gifts in lockers for you…no wonder everyone likes working in libraries…now if all workplaces were that pleasant.

I keep checking your blog to see if you’ve had your baby yet ;) I’m getting really excited to see the little lady! Hope you are feeling well!

Don’t worry, I’m hoping to do a post when I’m in a labor as well as a Twitter update. I’m so ready to have her – hopefully it will be any day now. :D

I love shelf pictures. :) Your shelf looks so neat! Our house is being renovated right now so I’m expecting a new shelf, and I cannot wait to put my books there. I don’t know if I’ll be able to arrange mine by color — I’ve been fixing mine by author for so long! Maybe when it gets here, I can try. :)

My shelves are abnormally neat right now. At our old place we needed space on our bookshelves for all our DVDs, console games, and CDs as well as books, but we have some more built in shelf-space in our new house so that means there’s more room for the books I have now – and the ones I’ll be acquiring. It’s an understatement to say it’s great to have some extra bookshelf space. :D

Hey I got those book plates too! I love them! Do you think she made them for every single employee? That’s like 100 people! Wow!
