So I’ve been wanting to participate in Claire and Marg‘s meme for awhile now, but I haven’t checked out much from my local libraries lately. I tend to borrow more from friends than anything. I also received my first review copies recently, and with giveaways, birthdays, holidays, and my started-a-book-blog increased book spending I guess I haven’t needed my local library as much as I used to. *sad* I do however check out lots of board and picture books for my son and the occasional handful for myself. I think another problem is that I return so many books unopened that I’ve learned to limit what I take home. Working at a library, too makes it easy to pick up a book here or there before or after a shift rather than making one big weekly trip.
So after that rambling explanation that’s why this week I decided to share the pile of books I borrowed from a friend’s library*:
From top left: True Confessions of a Heartless Girl by Martha Brooks (little known Canadian title that looks like it may be my thing and was personally recommended to me)
Tis’ the Season (Echo Company series #3) by Ellen Emerson White because it’s been too long since I’ve read The Road Home and I need a new Rebecca and Michael fix.
A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth C. Bunce because I used to read more fairy tale retellings (must rectify this) and it comes so highly recommended.
Beguilement (The Sharing Knife #1) by Lois McMaster Bujold because I’ve been meaning to read it for ages now and it was my latest Want Books? pick and with Chachic’s review I just can’t afford to wait any longer.
The Fetch by Laura Whitcomb. Her first YA supernatural novel A Certain Slant of Light is just too beautiful not to give her sophomore effort a try.
and Hush: An Irish Princess’ Tale by Donna Jo Napoli because it’s Irish and I loved Zel so much I need to read another Napoli retelling.
So where do you get most of your books from – a publisher or author, a bookstore or book website, or from the library or a friend?
*Brought to you courtesy of Angie.

Yay, you finally have Beguilement! I really hope you like it. You have some other good books in your pile, I was curious about The Fetch but I remember that Angie mentioned it isn’t as good as A Certain Slant of Light. I look forward to seeing your reviews of all of these books, especially Tis’ the Season.
Yes I do and I’ve been reading it too! Liking it so far. 100 pages in.
Welcome to Library Loot!
I just finished reading The Sharing Knife series and I really liked it, particularly the last book!
BTW, we have a new button for Library Loot (and there is a new co-host!). Check my blog for the details.
That’s good to know Marg! And thanks for pointing that out – not sure where I got the old info. It’s updated now.
Welcome to Library Loot!
I love fairy tale retellings as well but hadn’t heard of A Curse Dark As Gold before. I’ll keep my eyes open for it!
Enjoy your loot!
Thanks for coming over Claire!
