It’s Monday! What are you Reading? + Beatles

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is hosted by Sheila at One Person’s Journey Through a World of Books and is a weekly recap of what you read last week and what you plan to read this week.

Right now I’m reading The Jumbee by Pamela Keyes. It’s a YA retelling of The Phantom of the Opera set in the Caribbean. I plan to have a review up later this week. I’ll probably read The Tapestry of Love by Rosy Thornton next or one of the giveaway books I recently won.

Last week I read Star Gazing by Linda Gillard (my review). What about you? Any particular exciting or highly anticipated reads from last week or coming up this week?

And now for some music. The current song I cannot get out of my head is a cover of the Beatles song “I Got A Feeling”. It’s from an anime DH introduced me to and I have yet to watch about a band called (and titled) BECK.

Here’s the Beatles version:

There are great things about both versions but I’m starting to prefer the simple, pared down acoustic version by BECK. What about you and what song is looped on your current playlist?

Holly I am reading “A great and terrible beauty” by Libba Bray and I think it’s simply phenomenal, the book I wish I had written, have you read it? I think you’ll love it
Right now the song that I can’t stop listening is the cover Mad World by Gary Barg, it was on the british X Factor two weeks ago and I’ve been listening to it continuously ever since

Sheila, fun meme! Thanks for stopping by.

Emily, I have read it. I really liked it. And I love Mad World! I’ll have to listen to that version.

I’m re-reading This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen right now. I was supposed to dig into the next two Chaos Walking books, but after my brother’s wedding last week, I was in the mood to read something contemporary and romantic, and that was the first one I saw when I looked at my shelf (which also tells how much non-romantic fantasy I have stocked up on my TBR pile). I find that I’m enjoying the re-read, though, since I wasn’t able to really appreciate it during the first time. :) If I still feel like reading more of the same theme, I’ll pick up John Green’s Paper Towns next. Otherwise, I’ll finally go and continue Todd and Viola’s story. :)

As for songs…again, because of my brother’s wedding, I’ve been playing Ben Rector’s White Dress over and over and over again. :)

It’s already Tuesday here, but I figure there are still a few minutes/hours of Monday left where you are, so happy Monday Holly! :)

Thanks Tina! I’m glad Monday is almost over though. Can’t wait to hear what you think of the Chaos Walking books! PAPER TOWNS is a good choice too. ;)
