Want Books Update, etc

Between Twitter and Angie a few days ago I was alerted to what I thought was the sweetest deal in the history of books. Book Closeouts was having a clearance on the President Daughter’s series by Ellen Emerson White, which has been withering away on my TBR for ages and which I featured on my Want Books post. The decadent art historical reference covers; the goodness I know waits inside; it will all be mine in a few days for the measly price of $0.99 US dollars for each of the the first three books and $3.99 for the fourth.  It’s literally a steal. I should be feeling guilty because I would pay a lot more for this series and it deserves it. But I don’t. Because now Meg and all her loveliness will be in my hands in a few days instead of a few months.

I’m actually doing surprisingly well in coming up with the books I featured in that post. I guess I was serious. It’s unexpected but is making me very happy. Now I only have the Sevenwaters UK editions left. I bought The Ghosts of Ashbury High recently.

Look for a review of that or something else very soon. With a out-of-state family reunion, finding a house, a tooth dying, doctors/dentist appointments, family drama, bridal showers and dinners, two family weddings and stints as a bridesmaid all in the last 2.5 weeks (which probably only amounts to being a full-time working mom instead of a mostly SAHM), I’ve been a slacker lately.

I’ll close with the trailer for Vampire Sucks, which comes out on Friday and whose existence I’m surprised I guess I shouldn’t be surprised was just brought to my attention.

It generated a few laughs from me but I honestly don’t know how I should be feeling about it. It definitely has an audience, which consists of 16-year-olds like my sister who so excitedly showed it to me, and who is also an ardent fan of the series.  However I don’t think I’ll ever need to see more than the trailer.  What do you think, Twilight fan or not? Will you be lining up to see it, renting it later, or avoiding it completely?

So glad you picked up this series – and at such a great price! I may have to go over and buy another set for a friend or someone. Just cause it’s a steal!

I saw Angie’s tweet about the President Daughter’s books and I checked the site but they don’t deliver to the Philippines. :( Aww, I guess I just have to wait for the local bookstore to get my order. September can’t come soon enough! I’d love to see what you think of these books though.

How was Ghosts of Ashbury High? I know it started out a little slow but I think you also said on Twitter that it got better?

Seems like you’ve been super busy the past couple of weeks! It’s good that you still had time to read in spite of everything that you had to do.

    Michelle, that’s a great idea!

Chachic, that is sad. I’m sorry about that. I’M interested to see what I think. Hopefully I’ll get to them soon. I’ve been cruising through the last 100 pages of GoAH. Will finish tonight, which is exciting. I think I will end up liking it, just not sure if it will be love and if I can forgive the slow first 100-200 pages. I haven’t had that much time for reading, but I’ve tried to still fit a little in.

Eventually I’ll also be reading Ellen Emerson White but I have so much going on right now that I don’t want to start another great series, like you say it can be complicated to balance everything, so no I won’t be watching the movie…I am not a Twilight fan and that trailer looks really BAD.

Emily, lol. I’m not sure if someone who isn’t at least familiar with the story/movies would even get the movie. It’s such a copycat parody of New Moon. Have you read White’s The Road Home? It’s excellent and you may want to start there. It’s more of a standalone, loosely part of a series.

awesome you got those lovelies at such a steal! I still haven’t read these yet, and everytime someone new discovers them I turn and ask myself why I haven’t read them yet.

I am so with you on the UK versions of the sevenwater trilogy! those covers are to die for. and hmmm I’ll probably watch Vampires Suck when it goes to the dollar movies, although it did may me laugh at a few parts
