Worthwhile stops

While out and about yesterday I came across two very fun, very interesting posts:

Kika over at The Book Bluff is discussing the latest book cover trends. In her post there’s a collection of covers for each category: florals, foliage, hands, wind-swept hair, etc. (I’m a sucker for foliage.)  There’s also the trend for fire covers, which The YA YA YA’s pointed out in this post.  To check out a bunch of more trends (keys, gowns, silhouettes, etc), go to this article Kika references over at Publisher’s Weekly.  I find the trends and copycat cover tendencies fascinating.

Then there’s the post over at Tor’s blog called Fashion Dos and Don’ts for the Paranormal Heroine, full of practical tips for footwear, color choices, wardrobe recommendations, and the extra touches that will make any paranormal character a true bad-to-the-bone heroine.  Too cool.

Also in my cover surfing, I discovered Wondrous Reads’ UK v. US feature. Today she compares the UK and US editions of Claire de Lune by Christine Johnson, but check out the feature index, where you see a lot more.

Happy reading!
